This highly experiential training is designed for practitioners who are new to sandtray, as well as clinicians who have had basic sandtray training and want to build their confidence incorporating sandtray into clinical practice.
Participants will be introduced to the foundations of sandtray, including the basic materials and setup needed to begin using sandtray, selecting and organizing miniatures, introducing the process to clients, and the role of the therapist during tray creation. Considerations for using sandtray with children and adolescents will also be explored.
A significant portion of the day is experiential. Participants will create their own trays, practice facilitating sandtray experiences with other clinicians, and experience the process from both the participant “client” and clinician perspectives.
This training is designed to provide clinicians with practical introductory skills they can begin incorporating into their clinical work.

This training is designed for practitioners who have completed a beginning sandtray training or who have relevant experience using sandtray in their clinical work.
Day 2 builds upon foundational sandtray skills with an emphasis on clinical application and processing. Participants will explore how to introduce and facilitate sandtray experiences, process completed trays, use therapeutic questions effectively, and recognize when to follow the client's lead rather than interpret the client's work. The benefits of using sandtray with adults and adapting the process for different clients and clinical situations will also be explored.
Through experiential exercises, participants will practice creating, facilitating, and processing sandtrays from both the participant “client” and therapist perspectives. Participants will leave with increased confidence and practical skills they can immediately incorporate into their clinical work.

Description
This experiential training explores the use of sandtray therapy with clients who have experienced trauma, chronic stress, and overwhelming life experiences. Participants will examine how trauma can affect emotional regulation, memory, behavior, and a client's ability to communicate experiences verbally, and how the sensory and symbolic nature of sandtray can provide another avenue for therapeutic expression.
Emphasis will be placed on creating safety in the sandtray process, recognizing signs of activation and dysregulation, maintaining appropriate therapeutic pacing, and using sandtray without requiring clients to verbally recount traumatic experiences. Participants will explore trauma-informed approaches to introducing, facilitating, and processing sandtrays while maintaining respect for the client's own meanings and experience.
Through experiential exercises, demonstrations, case examples, and hands-on practice, participants will experience sandtray from both the client and therapist perspectives and develop practical strategies for incorporating trauma-informed sandtray work into clinical practice.

Description
This experiential training focuses on deepening the therapeutic use of sandtray with clients affected by trauma. Participants will explore ways to work with themes, metaphors, patterns, resources, and changes that emerge within the sand while maintaining a client-centered, trauma-informed approach.
Attention will be given to therapeutic presence, processing questions, pacing, recognizing protective and resource-oriented elements within the tray, and responding when difficult or emotionally intense material emerges. Participants will also explore ways sandtray can support clients in externalizing experiences, identifying internal and external resources, developing new perspectives, and creating movement within the therapeutic process.
Case examples, demonstrations, partner exercises, and experiential sandtray work will provide opportunities to practice clinical decision-making and processing skills. Participants will leave with practical interventions and greater confidence incorporating sandtray into trauma-focused clinical work.
